The depression was taking a toll on Hudson's premium models. 8000 Hudson Eight models were built, a substantial drop from the 22,156 the previous year.
This Hudson is equipped with an Edison Ediphone, that would allow an executive to dictate and record in the car.
A big change came in 1932 for the low price range Hudson Essex models. The Essex will now become the Essex Terraplane. The large interest in aviation was the inspiration for the Terraplane name. Hudson used Amelia Earhart to launch the new vehicle. This factory photo is from that press covered event, July 21, 1932.
