1957 American Motors Rambler 6 and V-8 Owners Manual
These serial numbers can help with identification of a vehicle.
The vehicle identification plate for Nash is on the right-hand side of the cowl under the hood.
Rambler was no longer refered to as a Nash or Hudson for 1957. The compact Rambler was now a seperate make on it's own, and would compete in the emerging compact segment for American cars. 114,084 of the 118,990 cars American Motors built in 1957 were Ramblers.
There were three series available for Rambler in 1957 with 14 models. The Deluxe series were available only as fleet/commercial vehicles, and had no name on the side. The Super series had the word Super in script on the rear fenders. The Custom series had the word Custom in script on the front fenders, and a round medallion in front of that.

1957 would be the last year for the Nash and Hudson names to be used . Statesman was dropped, and the only Nash series was the Ambassador Eight. American Motors takes 12th place in sales, building 118,990 cars in the 1957 calendar year, with sales of $362 million. AMC reported a loss of $11,833,200.
