For 1963, Model designations now ascended through 220, 330, and 440 series. A new Hardtop was added to the American lineup. The Hardtop and the convertible were only available in the top of the line 440 series. The H series only added $145.00 to the price of the car, a value car buyers found hard to pass up. The H series out sold the base model nearly two-to-one.
The American 440H model came standard with bucket seats and the Power-Pack 138 hp overhead-valve six. Notice the twin-Shift option on the factory photo. One to shift the transmission, and one for in/out mode for the overdrive. You can read more about it in the owners manual, here on AutomotiveTimelines.
This Rambler owners manual shows the unique double shift center console, as well as other helpful information about the 1963 Rambler.
