All Ambassadors are 990 series for 1964, equipped with the 327-cid V-8. Total production for the 1964 Ambassador was 18,519.
The 1964 Classic 770 Typhoon was a limited edition two-door hardtop. Only 2520 Typhoons were built, they were all painted Solar Yellow, with classic Black roof. All were equipped with the new AMC 232-cubic-inch six-cylinder, producing 145-hp. This was the largest production six-cylinder engine in America in 1964.
