1965 Ambassador

Ambassador is all new for 1965, with a longer wheelbase of 116 inches. 880 and 990 series were brought back to the model. Rambler advertised all the 65s as Sensible Spectaculars. In May of 1965, all high performance V8's could be ordered with floor shift and a four-speed transmission.

Now available in the American, was the 232-cid, 145 hp Torque Command Six. 109,134 Rambler American units were built for 1965.

Introducing Marlin

Rambler gets in on the fastback styling boom and introduces the Marlin, on February 10, of 1965 as a 1965-1/2 model. Designer Dick Teague is shown in this factory photo, with the new Marlin.

10,327 Marlins were produced for the 1965 model year. As a collectable, Marlin has plush bucket seats and unique styling. Prices are still low for Marlin enthusiasts, but typically a vehicle that is difficult to invest in for profit.
