1955 Buick Century 2dr Police Car
The first car designed and built for police duty was the 1955 Buick. Designed to keep up with the hot rod culture that was growing, Buick built 270 of these two-door Century sedans, a body style not available at your local Buick dealers. A light weight Buick Special body, with a Century V8 engine started the list of a combination from the Buick line to get the best performance for police duty.
These cars were used in the TV show "Highway Patrol" starring Broderick Crawford. You can watch a full episode here on AutomotiveTimelines.com.
