    1954 Motor Trend Books

Many fiberglas cars were being built in the 40's and 50's, as was already evident at the 1951 Motorama. Contemporary to the new Chevrolet Corvette were; Glaspar, Wildfire, Stardust, Vale Sports, La Saetta, Skorpion, and Convair. You can read about all these in this manual.

The Corvette had 61 plastic body parts with the floor section weight of only 75 pounds. The photo used on the cover was taken by a General Motor photographer for publicity.

This manual is one of the best resources we have on the construction of the first Corvette. Browse a Working Manual of Building Plastic Cars from 1954.
