The 1970 Mustang was introduced in September of 1969. For 1970, the Mustang returned to a single headlight design, mounted inside a wider grille. Simulated air intakes were placed outside the grille, where the headlights were in 1969 models. Production was 197,045 units.
The Shelby Mustang would be discontinued in 1970. Some 1969 models were sold as 1970 models.
The Mustang Boss series and Mach 1 Mustangs would now take the place of the Shelby performance Mustang.
