Although economy and compact design were still very much a part of Corvair, GM was finding a market for a performance oriented Corvair. The popular Spyder model, priced as a $317 package to Monza, increased production to 11,627 Coupes from the 6,804 1962 figures, and 7,472 Convertibles up from 2,574 1962 models. GM was also experimenting with high performance models for future production.
